Old Joe Clark for Combined Band/Orchestra
Old Joe Clark
Traditional Fiddle Tune
arranged by Joshua and Corrie Tew
Grade ½
Duration: 1:30
Old Joe Clark is an American folk song, based on a real mountaineer from Kentucky in the mid-1800's. It is one of the most popular fiddle tunes heard throughout the Southern US and has been played or quoted numerous times in bluegrass and country dance music.
This arrangement by Joshua and Corrie Tew is flexible and suited to beginning ensembles combining band and orchestra members. It is designed to be taught alongside Essential Elements Book #1, and can be used to showcase the group at a first-year concert. The optional piano part can be added to support the ensemble, and sleigh bells may be used in the same rhythm as the bass drum. Octave choices are provided in some parts based on the comfort and preference of the musicians, and an optional solo section gives your star players a chance to shine.
Also available for concert band and string orchestra.
