Cripple Creek

Traditional Fiddle Tune
arranged by Joshua and Corrie Tew

Grade ½
Duration: 2:00

Cripple Creek is an American-Appalachian folk song, with the lyrics in this edition referring to a town of the same name in Colorado. It is a standard tune in bluegrass music, and frequently played on the banjo as well as the fiddle.

This arrangement by Joshua and Corrie Tew is flexible and suited to beginning bands. It is designed to be taught alongside Essential Elements Book #2, and can be used to showcase the group at a first-year concert. The optional piano part can be added to support the ensemble, and sleigh bells may be used in the same rhythm as the bass drum. Octave choices are provided in some parts based on the comfort and preference of the musicians. Additionally, an optional vocal part and obligato fiddle line are provided, as is a solo section to give your star players a chance to shine.

Also available for combined band and orchestra and string orchestra.
