from La Resurrezione, HWV 47
Music by George Frideric Handel
Lyrics by Carlo Sigismondo Capece
Arranged and translated by William J. Bullock
Grade 4
Duration 3:30
This work consists of the two short choruses from Handel’s second Italian oratorio, La Resurrezione (“The Resurrection”), and will make an ideal selection for your next Easter service. The first chorus, “Now Christ Reigns Forever” (Il Nume vincitor), concludes the first of the oratorio’s two parts. The second chorus, “Praises Reach Up to Heav’n” (Diasi lode in cielo), concludes the second part of the oratorio.
This piece is scored for SATB choir with orchestral accompaniment, or can be accompanied by piano alone. Please note that the set of orchestral parts does not include any copies of the vocal-piano score; these must be ordered separately for as many performers as are in your choir. For performance with piano alone, order only the vocal-piano score.
